PetSmart Kills

PETA investigated a PetSmart supplyer in Texas. The whole thing is pretty disturbing, but the footage showing the treatment of a baby Goffin’s cockatoo named Angel is utterly devastating. Angel’s experience at PetSmart consisted of pain and suffering.

After watching the video of Angel i was discusted. I dont know how someone could do that to an animal, and still claim that "when pets are family, we are the family doctor" or that they are "all you need for the life of your pet". You would think the owners of a animal store would be animal lovers, but apparently not. PETA has their own webpage focused on PetSmart cruelty. Angel's story is not the only one. PetSmart continuously treats small animals with homelessness, neglect, and suffering. We need to put PetSmart out of buisness, and the only way to do it is to stop supporting them, stop believeing what they want you to, and to stop buying their animals.

Fur-Free Friday!

Last Friday was a Fur-Free Friday. The goal was to try and stop people from buying fur. PETA members from all over the world were encouraging shoppers to cross fur off their Christmas lists. In Aspen, Colorado, two "snow bunnies" snowboarded on 6 inches of fresh snow wearing only a bikini to encourage people to not kill for fur. Also more "bunnies" in all parts of the world, including Moscow, Helsinki, and Reykjavík, were asking people to "love us, don't wear us." Also, PETA held a "fur kitchen" at a Manhattan homeless shelter, where they gave donated fur coats to the only people with an excuse to wear them- the homeless, who can't afford to buy their own sources of warmth.

In my opinion i think "Fur-Free Friday" was a good way to attract and encourage people to not wear/buy fur and it shows that you should care. Giving the donated fur coats to the homeless or to provide bedding for an animal in need is a great way to put the fur in good use.

Thanksgiving Horor Meal

Just before the Thanksgiving holiday, PETA conducted an undercover investigation lasting more than two months at the factory farms of Aviagen Turkeys, Inc. While investigating, PETA's investigator documented that workers tortured, mutilated, and maliciously killed turkeys. The workers would stomp, punch, hit, drown, choke, and beat the turkeys in vicious and disgusting ways. The animals were also living in harsh, cramped conditions. The rotting remains of about 70 hens were left among live birds for more than a day and workers spat tobacco in the pens as well.

During the investigation PETA's investigator repeatedly brought abuses to a supervisor's attention. The supervisor responded, "Every once in a while, everybody gets agitated and has to kill a bird."- If the supervisor is letting these workers kill the birds then first of all he shouldn't be the supervisor and secondly why isn't anyone putting an end to this cruelty. Also you would think after Aviagen found out they would do something about it but, all they did was made assurances and instituted some new rules, but the cruelty didn't stop.

Me On Aminal Cruelty

My name is Sarah, i go to school in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board. Our English assignment is to choose a topic of choice and to follow it in recent news. The reason i chose animal cruelty is because it is happening all over the world and the problem is that no one does anything to help stop it from happening or that no one cares. As i research I'm finding out more and More information about what is happening to animals behind closed doors. The sources i will use to research about my topic are newspaper websites and peta.org. My main goal for this project is to keep myself and others aware of animal cruelty, trying to help stop the terrible things that are being done to some animals.
